Ezicover Income Protection

About Ezicover Income Protection

Your ability to earn an income is your most important financial asset. Think about it: your salary funds your mortgage, your children’s schooling, your retirement savings, and your everyday life. Yet most Australians insure their car and their home without ever insuring the income that pays for everything.

Ezicover Income Protection from Zurich is built to fill that gap — providing up to 70% of your pre-tax monthly income if sickness or injury stops you from working, so life doesn’t have to grind to a halt while you recover.

Don’t leave your income unprotected.

What Is Ezicover Income Protection?

Ezicover Income Protection is a monthly benefit insurance policy. If you become unable to work due to sickness or injury, Zurich pays you a regular monthly amount, up to 70% of your pre-tax income, capped at $12,000 per month, once your chosen waiting period has passed.

The benefit is designed to cover your real-life ongoing costs: rent or mortgage repayments, utility bills, school fees, groceries — the kind of expenses that don’t stop just because your pay cheque does.

Partial Disability Benefit

If you return to work in a reduced capacity — say, part-time or in a different role — Zurich may still pay a partial benefit to top up the income you’re earning. This helps bridge the gap during a phased recovery, rather than creating a cliff-edge when you start working again.

What are the eligibility requirements?

To apply for Zurich’s Ezicover Income Protection, you need to meet the following criteria:

  • To apply for this policy, each person to be insured must be aged between 19 and 60 years old, and be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or hold an Australian Permanent Residency Visa.

  • To be eligible for income protection cover, you must be working between 20 and 60 hours per week.

  • Either you are permanently employed (full-time or part-time) or self-employed.

  • Non-permanent workers (casual, contract or temporary) are eligible with at least 2 years of consistent income history.

Why do users choose it?

Ezicover Income Protection from Zurich is most relevant for anyone whose financial commitments such as mortgage, rent, bills, school fees, etc. depend on a regular pay cheque continuing to arrive.

Zurich understands that financial situations can change. Ezicover Income Protection includes two helpful features to keep you covered during hard times.

Reducing Income

  • Temporarily reduce your level of cover
  • Correspondingly reduces your premium payments
  • Allows you to retain some protection rather than cancelling altogether
  • Available while your financial situation is strained

Cover Suspension

  • Pause your cover and premium payments entirely for up to 12 months
  • Useful during career breaks, parental leave or extended periods of financial difficulty
  • Cover can be reinstated when you’re ready to resume
  • Check the PDS for full terms and conditions

Features

Up to 70% of Your Income

Benefit payments up to 70% of pre-tax monthly income, capped at $12,000 per month — enough to keep most households financially stable during a period of recovery.

Flexible Benefit Periods

Choose a benefit period of 1, 2 or 5 years to suit your budget and risk appetite. A longer benefit period gives more protection while shorter periods keep premiums lower.

Flexible Waiting Periods

Select your waiting period — 30, 60 or 90 days — before benefits begin. A longer waiting period reduces your premium. Use savings or sick leave to cover the gap.

Sickness & Injury, or Injury Only

Choose comprehensive cover for both sickness and injury, or opt for injury-only cover at a lower premium. Tailor the policy to your occupation and lifestyle risk profile.

Premiums Waived During a Claim

You won’t have to pay your premium while you’re receiving income protection benefits. That’s one less thing to worry about during an already stressful time.

Who Needs Income Protection Cover

Established Families

When the household depends on your income, protecting it protects everyone in it. If illness or injury stopped you working, Ezicover Income Protection keeps up to 70% of your pre-tax income flowing — so the mortgage, school fees and everyday bills are still covered while you recover.

Economically Pressured Households

When every dollar matters, the stakes of losing your income are even higher. An affordable income protection policy, even at a basic level with a longer waiting period, can be the difference between managing through a setback and financial freefall.

Emerging Families

New home, new baby, reduced household income while a partner returns from parental leave, this is one of the most financially vulnerable phases of life. Income protection ensures the family’s new commitments don’t unravel if the primary earner can’t work.
